Bill McDermitt, Director of Economic Development for Seminole County, will be providing an update on Job Creation and Tourism Development Activities in Seminole County.

Bill’s career in economic development spans 33 years in both the public and private sectors.  He has had economic development assignments at both state and local government levels, public/private partnerships as well as the telecommunications industry with GTE. Prior to joining Seminole County, Bill worked with the Florida High Tech Corridor Council to implement a comprehensive web-based IT skills assessment survey with community college education partners in the 21 county region of the corridor. In July 2002, Bill assumed the duties of the newly created position of Director of Economic Development for Seminole County.

Also during his career, he has served in economic development leadership roles including Chair of the American Economic Development Council, board member of the International Economic Development Council; and is a Past President of the Florida Economic Development Council.

Terri Beigel, Community Resource Manager for the Central Florida Zoo, will be providing an update on, "What’s New at the Zoo".

Terri is a Florida native and a graduate of UCF. She sold life and health insurance for 12 years then decided to go have some fun for a while, so she went to work at the Zoo, where she has been for the last 14 years.  Her duties are split between Public Relations and Education.  She teaches world population classes to Education Majors at UCF and Stetson University, as well as 4th and 5th grade programs at the Zoo.  Terri also represents the Zoo for media and special events and speaks to groups and conferences about the Zoo.

Her favorite things about working at the Zoo?  It’s true when you say, “It’s a zoo around here!”  The person on the other end of the phone is always asking, “What’s that sound?”  You never know when a llama, baby leopard, owl or other wild animal might walk through your office door.
