Lilian Casselberry, daughter of Hibbard Casselberry, the founder of Casselberry, will speak on the topic of Casselberry vs. the Economy - How Community Spirit Works Miracles.
Community Spirit works miracles – especially in a time of economic challenges. If the people don’t prosper – the city won’t prosper. We are all in this together, and Lilian Casselberry knows that point well. Her father, Hibbard Casselberry, founder of the city, used to quote Mahatma Gandhi to city attorney, Ken MacIntosh: “We must be the change we want to see.”
With that dedication and enthusiasm for the Greater Casselberry community, Lilian brings forward ideas on how we can all thrive, not just survive. Some of her ideas are new and some have been time-tested through booms, busts, crashes, downturns, recessions, wars, and the great depression. Casselberry has survived them all, and even prospered in a time of war. With what we know – and community spirit - we can all thrive now.
Over the years, Lilian has served as the Marketing Director for the Greater Orlando Board of Realtors and a Director for the Florida Retail Federation. Besides her past service in community groups, her passion for the city showed in Casselberry, MY Kind of Town, a citizen-based marketing project, which she created and ran for two years.
The greater Casselberry community is important to Lilian. This is her home, where her business is situated, and where she casts her vote. It is where her life is chiefly lived - and her family heritage. Today, Lilian is finishing a fifteen-year project, a book on the life of her father, Hibbard Casselberry and the town he loved - King of Casselberry.
