Event Description:
Rock N Blues Concert & Car Show
Morry Sochat & The Special 20’s will headline the Rock N’ Blues Concert and Car Show on Memorial Weekend on Saturday, May 26, from 5-9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry. The free event is sponsored by radio station 105.9 SUNNY-FM.
Sochat (pronounced Socket) and his band are from Chicago and play a mix of classic Chicago blues with swing and Rock N’ Roll from the 1950s. The band is influenced by Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Junior Wells and Louis Jordan.
Sochat moved from Texas to Chicago in 1990 and started playing the harmonica. After performing a few gigs here and there, he created the Special 20’s with a variety of top-notch musicians from the area. It’s been a rotating assembly of some of the best blues performers in the Midwest and they’ve recorded several critically-acclaimed albums. And they’ve been touring ever since.
Besides the music, there will be more than 150 classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods for car enthusiasts to enjoy. And there will be a contest for best car.
As part of this Memorial Weekend celebration, the city will again honor all veterans for their service with a color guard display and plaque.
